The private exchange was created in two components:

  • ā€œIndividual Marketplace,ā€ designed to provide an array of insurance choices for individuals and small employer groups with less than five employees
  • ā€œEmployer Exchangeā€ for employer groups with five or more employees, which features multiple health insurance provider options for employees, group voluntary products like dental, vision, disability, and term life. It also has a cafeteria plan and defined contribution.

Decision Support:Ā Employees receive enrollment assistance from decision support technology through the exchange, as well as through the assistance of live benefits counselors and also have the opportunity to access subsidized coverage through the private exchange or the federal public site, Healthcare.gov.

The technology platform utilizes a ā€œBest Fitā€ decision support tool. ā€œBest Fitā€ is an interactive decision support tool that aids in the insurance shopping process by helping individuals make a more informed and personalized decision across a range of plans – all through an engaging experience. ā€œBest Fitā€ guides the individual through the buying process by asking a few simple questions and then suggesting the plan that best fits his or her individual needs. Matching your requirements with the most suitable deductible, coinsurance, co-pays, prescription drug coverage, and provider network can dramatically reduce your total out of pocket costs and save you money.
